Margo

Margaret Catherine O Donnell was born on February 6th 1951 in Donegal Hospital, Donegal Town the second eldest of five children, born to Julia and Francis O'Donnell.

In 1964 Margo was approached by the "Keynotes" Showband a local group of lads from home to sing with them, with her parents consent and strict orders from her dad to look out for her-- she joined them and would sing locally at weekends and school holidays, and then she ventured to Scotland.

Margo recorded her first album "Bonny Irish Boy"/"Dear God" in 1968 with the Keynotes. The week of its release her father passed away suddenly on August 16th.

Margo recorded their second single "Road by the River" and "Eyes of a Child" the following year 1969 and it was a huge success. She was approached by a Dublin promoter in 1969 and was offered a secure age and a good future.

Margo left the "Keynotes" in late 1969 and Margo and the Country Folk were born. On September 25th 2004 Margo celebrated forty years in the show business in Donegal where it all started, the "Keynotes reformed especially for the night and they had a few special guests.
